The Champion Chase is the main feature of the second day of the Cheltenham Festivaland there will be plenty of twists and turns in the lead up to the 2013 renewal. We've listed the main trial races so you assess the form of each of the main contenders.

Six year old Cristal Bonus took the spoils for Paul Nicholls winning by nine lengths at Down Royal. This wasn't the strongest of races and the win didn't see any sizebale move in the Champion Chase betting or the Ryanair Chase.

This was an impressive 20+ length win for the Colin Tizzard trained Cue Card who was clipped in for the Queen Mother Champion Chase as a result. The feeling is the horse will run in the King George over three miles, so time will tell whether the two mile champion race will be on the schedule come March.

It's highly likely that the winner Flemenstar will be campaigned over longer tips than two miles and he is amongst the favourites for the Gold Cup next March. This was an impressive win however with excellent jumping he lead from the off and beat the ex-Champion Chaser Big Zeb by seven lengths in the end.

Tingle Creek Chase

This was as an emphatic win you could imagine for the Queen Mother Champion Chase favourite Sprinter Sacre who won by fifteen lengths on the bridle. He's now as short as 1/2 favourite for next March's champion two mile chase.

Desert Orchid Chase

Sanctuaire bounced back from his defeat in the Tingle Creek to score at Kempton and remains one of the market leaders behind the favourite for next March's Champion Chase.

Paddy Power Dial-a-bet Chase

This was a fine win for the ten your old who stayed on fast at the end to pip the favourite. He's likely to run in the Ryanair over the Queen Mother however at Cheltenham.
