The day begins with the Triumph Hurdle, where four year old juveniles race over two miles and one furlong. Previous winners of this race have gone on to compete in the Champion Hurdle, including Celestial Halo, Katchit and this year Zaynar. The Edward O'Grady trained Alaivan and Gordon Elliot trained Carlito Brigante head the market for this year's renewal.

Second up is the Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle over two miles and one furlong. There have been some big priced winners of this race in the last two years, with American Trilogy scoring for Paul Nicholls in 2009 at 20/1. Paul Nicholls' five-year-old Tito Bustillo heads the market for the race at the 2010 Festival.

The third race of the day is the Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle, a Grade 1 Hurdle run over three miles. Tell Massini heads the market for the 2010 renewal, with the Tom George trained six-year-old a two-time winner at the track this season.

The big one comes next; the Cheltenham Gold Cup will once again be an exciting affair where the eyes of the racing world will be on Cheltenham. 2010 looks set to be another Kauto Star v Denman battle as they have won the last three runnings between them and they will be back in 2010. Kauto Star is an odds on shot to retain his title after winning a fourth consecutive King George VI Chase at Kempton over Christmas. Denman has drifted in the betting since blundering badly in the AON Chase in his last prep race.

Run over the same course and distance as the Gold Cup, the fifth race of the day is the Foxhunter Steeple Chase Challenge Cup, for amateur jockeys. There's alsways plenty of thrills and spills with the part-timers in the saddle for this race and the Waley-Cohens' will run warm favourite Roulez Cool in the 2010 renewal.

The sixth race of the day is the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockey's Handicap Hurdle, which gives the conditional jockeys a chance of Cheltenham glory. This is still a new race but was won by Andytown who won as a 25/1 outsider in 2009 so it may well develop into an open race in the coming years. There's a possibility that Imperial Cup winner Qaspal will go for his £75,000 bonus in this race at the 2010 Festival.

The Festival is brought to an end with the Grand Annual Chase over a distance of just over two miles. Whilst favourites do not have a great record in the race, those high up in the betting do. Thirty of the last thirty-five renewals were won by horses that started at odds of no bigger then 10/1.
