Jewson Novices' Chase Odds

Day 3 - Wednesday 15th March 2012 - 1.30pm - Jewson Novices' Chase - Grade 2 - 2m4f

The Jewson Novice Chase is a new race at the Cheltenham Festival, not to be confused with the old Jewson Novices' Handicap. The race is first up on day three of the meeting, run over two and a half miles. This new race caters for horses to slow for the Arkle but not enough stamina for the RSA Chase and was won on it's second running in 2012 by 3/1 chance Sir Des Champs for trainer Willie Mullins.

Jewson Novices' Chase Background

The Jewson Novice Chase is a brand new addition to the 2011 Cheltenham Festival and it promises to be an exciting addition as it opens the third day of the Festival. It involves a distance of 2 miles and 4 furlongs, and because it falls between the 2 mile trip of the Arkle and the 3 mile trip of the RSA Chase it is likely to attract a quality field.

The race name Jewson has been transferred from what will now be known as the Centenary Novices Chase (which is now run on the opening day of the Festival).
