The Jewson Novices' Chase is a new race at the Cheltenham Festival, first run in 2010 and is the first race run on the Thursday of the meeting. Run over two and a half miles, this novice chase is for the horses who aren't quite quick enough for the Arkle but lack the stamina for the RSA Chase. This was an impressive enough win for the Venetia Williams tained five year old, who raced at the front and jumped his rivals into submission in what was a competitive enough field. He could well be aimed at the RSA Chase come Cheltenham next March.

This was an impressive win on the heavy going by a real staying type. Our Father could be forgiven his run in second and remains a bright prospect.

Paul Nicholls won this race for the seventh time in the last eight years but this wasn't the strongest of renewals and Grandioso isn't prominent in the betting for the Jewson Novices' Chase.
